Baby Moon Essentials | In Honor of Design

Babymoon Essentials | IHOD

Gabe and I have not been away together since before Gabriel was born! Since we don’t have family near by, leaving them with a sitter is not an affordable option or one I have felt comfortable with yet. Lucky for us, my sister is living with us this summer working here in Atlanta, and she so generously offered to stay with the kids for the weekend so we could squeeze in a Babymoon/Anniversary celebrating this weekend. So very excited to have time with my husband all to myself. We are heading to Charleston, SC since we have been dying to see the city, and since there is a beach there. (Necessary.) Have you been? Any fun places to recommend?

Here are a few essentials I am packing:

1. Denim Chambray – that piece you can throw over anything and use as a jacket for cooler evenings.

2. & 3. Picked up a few of these $5 tanks at H&M to layer over the Blanqi support camis.

4.  Wide rim fedora – easy way to finish a look and mainly provide sun protection at the beach. Similar one here.

5.  The most comfortable sandals that I have been wearing daily as of late that go with both dresses and casual shorts.

6. Honest Co. Sunscreen…because its one of the few safe for your skin. Also love their healing lip balms!

7.  I was terrible at staying hydrated when pregnant with Gabriel and it got me into trouble! So this pregnancy I carry around this BKR Glass Water Bottle with me everywhere.

8. H&M also provided some fun sunglasses choices this year. Similar pair here.

9. Finally found an expandable tote in just the right color that can separate travel essentials + laptop or camera in different sections.

10. Camera…you know, that thing lifestyle bloggers can’t really go anywhere without;) (We use aRebel T3)

11. Baseball tee – one of my few tees that still fits over my belly bump and is comfortable and easy. (Affordable option here.)

Not pictured: Bathing suit ( ahhh do I have to??) Well beach time is a must for Gabe and I so I will swallow my pride for this one. Love ASOS’ maternity suitsBeach cover ups – I just received this one in the mail which is fun. Also will be bringing my Tolani Cover up and dresses for evenings. (See recent Bump Styled posts:))

Would love to hear your essentials!
Will be posting a few photos to instagram over the weekend if you want to see the city from afar!

Have a wonderful time! I LOVE Charleston! Definitely go walk down in battery park (so many beautiful, old trees!) and walk down Rainbow Row! There’s great shopping on King Street, and there are SO many restaurants to choose from in Charleston. Have a great time!

Hi! I was wondering if the Honest Co sunscreen rubs in well? I’ve tried lots of natural sunscreens, but they all seem to be very thick and do not rub in. Thanks!

    • You are right – they don’t rub in all that well! I love how this one smells and feels but actually use it just on my face and on my kids since it is thicker!

Hey Anna, I have lots of suggestions! When are you coming in town? I currently live in Charleston and I absolutely love it. Still plenty of things I haven’t gotten to do yet here. =)
    – Beach choice: sullivan’s island or Isle of Palms (less crowded and touristy) then you’ll have to stop by Poe’s Burger place on Sullivan’s Island
    – Breakfast: Glazed gourmet donuts on King St. if you’re looking for something quicker. Otherwise I love Eli’s table for brunch or Paige’s Okra Grill in Mt Pleasant for some real southern food/breakfast

    – DInner: Fleet landing restaurant that is on the water off in downtown right down from the market. Husk is also wildly popular but you may have issues getting seating on a weekend. 82 queen is a nicer restaurant and has a great garden outside for eating if the weather holds up.

    – Things to see: Middleton Place (gardens and big house) out in West Ashley. Tickets arent terribly cheap but they also have a great romantic restaurant out on the property. USS york for the history buff that is right over the suspension bridge in mt pleasant, harbor boat tours, local b-ball team, the Riverdogs baseball game. Depending on what weekend you go there is always some event or party going on.

Enjoy your time! You’ll want to come back even before you’ve made it here.

    • Hi Bridgette! This is wonderful! Thank you so much for taking the time to send some good recs. You are lucky to live in such a fun city! Will let you know how it goes:)

  • Katie Broce

Hi Anna. I’m living in Charleston and it is such a great place! I agree with Bridgette (below) about Poe’s on Sullivan’s Island. Almost any place on Sullivan’s (one of my favorite spots) is great and you can walk right out to the beach. Also Okra Grill is delicious, great southern food and plenty of it.

King Street has great shopping and restaurants. I would recommend doing a carriage tour so you can see as much downtown as possible without having to walk all of it. Definitely check out the battery and some of the homes around there. They are unbelievable! If it’s nice, there’s a few rooftop restaurants that have great views too.

Have fun on your trip!! I’m sure you’ll love it here.

  • That is where we went for our honeymoon! Absolutely the Noisy Oyster for dinner at 24 N Market. It is low key with great food and all of the windows are open to the street. We ate there twice!

  • Necole Kell

I always forget about H&M, and there is one not far from my house. I like to buy my baseball tees at a sports store. they are longer, but also thinner. I usually have to wear a cami underneath. Have a great and relaxing trip. My husband and I have not been anywhere together without kids.

  • These look like my travel essentials and I’m not even preggers! hahah Have an amazing time in Charleston!

  • Yay, Charleston! Such a fun little city. Enjoy the downtime!

  • Love Charleston! I was just there for Memorial Day. I would recommend Fleet Landing – amazing food and right on the water. I’d also recommend Hominy Grill for brunch, and you can’t skip a walk on the Battery!

  • Mandy Rye

Have the MOST amazing time! xo Mandy @ Waiting On Martha

  • JIm and I went to Charleston last year for our anniversary/babymoon! its the best!! where are you staying? we ate pretty much the entire time, with the exception of a very long kayak ride. i recommend husk, fig, and slightly north of broad. amazing food!! and the beach…so fun. and the shopping!!! have so much fun!!
