Local Notes: The Optimist

January 7, 2014

One of the best aspects of this Local Notes series is getting to experience my city. It has been a fun way to explore and look behind new doors. Luckily none have lead me down Alice’s rabbit hole, but rather, to beautiful spaces like The Optimist😉 I loved every detail of this Oyster Bar. The light fixtures, the mod corner seating, the open layout, and even the center kitchen bars in view. I cannot wait to come back to this place with Gabe and actually order something off the menu! They were kind enough to let us in before they opened so we got a preview of just how captivating this space can really be…

IHOD | The OptimistThe Optimist Bar Atlanta - IHOD

I will have to get back to you on how the selection of food tastes, but I am guessing you can’t go wrong with hearth roasted Mahi Mahi or east coast oysters as options on the menu. I have developed a real bad hankering for sea food lately so it was a tease to be in there and not be able to order;)

Ready to book your date for the weekend? Or maybe hop on a plane to Atlanta to see this place? You will probably find me there looking up at the ceiling in wide eyed wonder because I can’t exactly get over their light fixtures…

You can check out The Optimist on facebook and twitter for updates on their upcoming events and specials:)

Cheers to trying new places in 2014!

  • Gorgeous!!! That is hands down one of the most beautiful restaurants in Atlanta. And the food is amazing, too!! You look beautiful and happy. Love it.

  • Atmosphere is just as important as the food for a great restaurant. It looks like this one has it all. I love the open concept and what they have chosen to do with the bar area.

  • Oh, if I’m ever in ATL, I will be sure to look this place up.

Did they say what the blue keychains and keys were for? Or is it just decorative?

  • All these posts have me wanting to book a trip to Atlanta 🙂 Your the cutest. xo

  • the bar is cool, but YOUR PANTS ARE THE COOLEST!

  • How fun to get to see The Optimist all to yourself! I haven’t been yet, but I’ve had lots of friends rave about how fabulous the food and drinks are. A couple of my co-workers even spotted Jake Gyllenhaal there and they’re now convinced he eats there all the time.

  • I love the look of the light and the empty rooms! The whole place looks gorgeous :]

  • What a cute spot – I have to remember this place the next time in ATL!

  • *those links are just the pictures I took at the Optimist when we were there.

In my excitement about The Optimist, I forgot to tell you how beautiful you looked in these photos. Your style is just amazing not just in this post but in every one!! But, your heart and the way you express it are what’s most impressive about your blog. I look forward to your posts!!

*We are foodies (armature for sure) from Gainesville and come to Atlanta quite often to eat. One of our absolute favorite places to eat is WOODFIRE GRILL on Cheshire Bridge (don’t let the location scare you-haha!) The décor is simple, elegant, and romantic but not as beautiful on the eyes like Optimist but is one of the best experiences in Atlanta as far as unique, inventive and spectacular food. Chef Tyler Williams is AMAZING and is truly and artist with his food. It’s beautiful and delicious! Menus are changed weekly and we get excited just thinking about what will be on the menu when we get there.

*Oh, if you go to http://www.browneyedgirlygirl.com website….it’s been a year since I’ve updated – got lazy and then …I’m battling my second bout of Breast Cancer. Being having chemo treatments the past 5 months and just haven’t had the energy to update. If you want to connect through Facebook, my page is Heidi Garrett Ferguson (Gainesville, GA).

God Bless You Anna and I’m excited about the direction your blog is headed too!

  • This space is beautiful – I am totally ready to hop on a plane and visit.

  • Such a beautiful setting! We too love the details and decor!

I recognized this restaurant and was so excited, The Optimist is one of my favorite spots. They’ve really done a great job with the whole aesthetic of the restaurant. Can’t wait to see more of these Local Notes posts (:
