Style Swap Challenge: Living Room Makeover

Modern farmhouse living room

I had a few posts prepared to go up this week, so excited to be able to share those with you as I continue to re-coop from delivery! As you remember from our Dining Room reveal, I got to team up with my friend Lesley Graham for a style swap challenge with Home Decorators Collection. Today I finally get to unveil her living room overhaul! Lesley’s whole home is a dream. Built in the early 1900’s, her and her husband totally gutted and rebuilt the home to reflect the history and charm in deserved. I had such a fun time getting to dream up this modern farmhouse style living room with her, and felt so lucky to team up! All of the details are on the Home Depot Blog today.

Lesley wanted the space to reflect a more cohesive, clean and sophisticated look and feel so she was ready to start from scratch. You can read more about our process in trading spaces, but we mainly communicated through the whole process as we planned through the big and small decisions. We incorporated some fresh new pieces like the Gordon Tufted Sofa in Natural Linen and  Old Grey Treasures Rug the main foundation pieces of the room as well as some personal family pieces like the hanging guitars her husband plays and artwork from her favorite artists and friends.

And how about that shiplap?! Lesley’s husband and dad tackled this DIY that really brightened the room! They used the color Polar Bear Exterior by Behr Paint which is a true white that enhanced the natural light in the room. Custom shelving units were also installed and painted in the same color so we could offer a place to house those little personal details such as family pictures.

Here are most of the pieces we used in the room:
Ellencot chandelier
arched wall mirrors
Industrial Empire Bookshelf
Anjou Coffee Table
Bella Glass End Tables
Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree
Hammered Aluminim Copper Bowls
Budget Woven Wood Shade
Sheer Curtains
Lombard Pillow
Hobie Stripe Pillow

It was really cool to work on someone else’s space – especially when it’s a friend! Helping Lesley create a room she can use with her family for years to come was one of my favorite design projects to see come to life. Head over to the Home Depot blog to see more:)
