A Rainbow Unicorn 6th Birthday

April 17, 2017

Veronica turned six this past week and before we headed to Tennessee we had a little birthday celebration with her aunts and uncles, nanna and papa, and a few of her little friends. Veronica has always been our very happy, imaginative, colorful, and bright little wildflower so it came to no surprise she wanted a “rainbow unicorn mermaid” birthday. I couldn’t quite pull off the triple theme but I’d say we got the rainbow part down;)

I loved celebrating this day with her. I just want to remember her eagerness to decorate, how she babbled all about her party to Zelie (and made her a special guest), and how much she flashed her toothy grin with those freckly cheeks all day long. Here are a few pics from the day…

Party details: party balloons – Shop Studio DIY, cookie cutters – amazon, unicorn horn hats – amazon, rainbow piñata + stick – party city, everything else – Target (lucky for me unicorns are a happening trend right now!)

My high school sister Gianna came over and did face paints for all of the kids which they LOVED. Veronica and I made cookies the day before, so they decorated cookies with a bunch of fun sprinkles. And of course, a Liesemeyer party wouldn’t be complete with busting a piñata!  My grandma always had a piñata on hand for anyone celebrating a birthday or just for fun on a hot summer night. It became our go – to solution for birthday fun throughout the years, and it continues to be a merry maker with my own little ones.

I look forward to 6yrs old with our girl. She has become some a nurturer to her little sister and brothers, wants to be a “person who helps people, so probably a nurse or dentist” when she grows up, and is really good at being a spunky and spontaneous spitfire. I tear up on every birthday for every child, but it’s just my way of mourning a year gone. I really do cherish each and every age, and we only get to see them pass by once. However, I can’t wait to spend this year with her. It’s gonna be good.

  • Oh what a perfect theme for a 6 year old birthday party! And I’m with you! I always get emotional whenever a child turns another year older!

  • Happiest birthdays Veronica! Mom nailed the theme. I’m dying to know where you found that darling chalkboard easel. Although, I’m worried you’re going to tell me a lucky thrifting find! 🙂

  • Oh my, can you be my party planner for my next birthday? I’d kill to have a unicorn party! Happy birthday to Veronica!

Love it! V looks soooooo happy with her Rainbow Unicorn Birthday party! I’m so glad you let her dictate what she wanted – she will remember the time her mom let her run wild with her imagination! Love that you kept it simple and unfussy! That rainbow face paint around her eye & cheek…priceless!

Thank you so much Heidi. I sure hope so! My mom always kept our birthdays simple but they were surrounded with fun ideas and family time which is what I want the focus to remain on:)
