Steak Salads + Watermelon Sorbet (Whole30)

June 7, 2017

Gabe and I are attempting a modified version of whole30 for the month (hesitant to even type those words!). Modified by not excluding dairy, and allowing grass fed butter and cheese here and there. We’ve made it 7 days and I am attempting to wean myself off of my beloved artificial coffee creamer. Our main motivation being more energy! We both have sweet tooths, but hate the way it makes us feel afterwards. I will probably cheat on whole30 with ice cream before the end of the month, but for now, watermelon and fruit helps curb that sugar craving!

These steak salads and watermelon sorbet combo is an easy dinner I just made us that filled us up pretty well. I made a side of rice pasta for the kids to have with the meat. The biggest challenge with Whole30 is finding meals that work for the whole family so this was one solution that worked!

Steak Salads
Grass fed steak cut into strips (actually not all that more $ than regular sirloin around here!)
Montreal seasoning
Butter lettuce
Tomatoes
Avocados
Cucumbers

Grilled the steak strips on medium heat and season with montreal seasoning (the key to lifeee!!!!!). Use the juices from the meat to drizzle over the bed of lettuce, avocados, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Add a little olive oil if needed. That is all! Easy and delicious.

Strawberry Watermelon Sorbet
Watermelon
Frozen strawberries
Ice
Pure Maple Syrup (optional)

The trick with this is using the right portion of ice with watermelon. It’s close to half and half proportions. To sweeten it a little more I add a little pure maple syrup. If you are avoiding all sugars, it’s still yummy without!

It immediately starts to melt so sip with a straw or stick in the freezer for 15-30 min. to stiffen it up.

Any favorite instagram handles or websites to follow for whole30 ideas? (For overall healthy lifestyle ideas I love Jenna Rammel and Shannan Monson.) Thanks in advance!
