News: Need your advice! + Shop Updates

Hi friends:) I just got back last night from our little vacation. We traveled to St. Louis and Louisville for a wedding, visiting old friends, my sister’s graduation party, and soaking up time by the pool:D I am wiped out and avoiding unpacking…he he. It was so much fun though and well worth it.


I am in the process of adding lots of new items to the shop. Just wanted to give you a peak of my design process. I am always finding inspiration through imagery and it often turns into an accessory design:) Here is just one example..


Also, NEED SOME ADVICE! I would like to open a second online shop site other than etsy for a few reasons. Does anyone have a shop on bigcartel.com or any other online market place? I need your feedback! Let me know your experiences…pros and cons!

    great inspiration images- I am considering using big cartel as well for my photo shop, I think if you can look at your feed for an average of say 3 months and then look at what Big Cartel requires it might be worth it. I also love the clean white background- love hear what your thoughts are 🙂

    I’ve checked out Big Cartel too, but it doesn’t seem to have the same community features or abilities to search. In other words, it’s harder to browse or find things you like unless you’re in the know about a certain shop. I’ve found so many great things through Etsy’s Treasury or the finds email. Just my two cents…would love to learn more tho.

    I have two shops, one through big cartel (my primary shop), and one through etsy (my original shop, which I keep primarily because I have quite a few ‘high profile’ sites that link there, and I don’t want to lose those referrals). I really like big cartel – the back end is so simple to use, and I find it to be much more efficient than etsy. I am able to list items on big cartel so much more quickly! It also allows for much more customization, and the flat fees are nice and straightforward. Also, a huge benefit for me is their integration with pulley – a site which allows for digital products to be sent to the customer automatically, which makes sending off my artwork simple for me, and instantaneous for my customers.

    Anyway, I am very pleased with big cartel! I do agree that it is definitely for shops that are able to generate their own traffic, unlike the community feature of etsy. From a cost standpoint, the big cartel pricing structure may only be a beneficial for shops with a certain level of activity as well.

    That headband is adorable~ as are all the things in your shop! I love seeing what inspires you! I haven’t tried big cartel, but I thought about 1000 Markets. (The thought didn’t get too far, though, because business just kicks in…). Interested to see what you end up doing! Have a great day!
