DIY Pyramid Stud Earrings – Vince Camuto Inspired

August 23, 2012

Using the leftover pieces from the studded phone case DIY, I made a few earring sets inspired by these Vince Camuto pair. This is a no brainer DIY so you can do this even with your un-craftiest friend:)

The key to this Pyramid Stud Earrings DIY is having the iron back studs since they are filled and not hollow.

Supplies:
Earring Backs
IRON BACK Pyramid Studs (Find some here)
Super glue or E-6000 Glue (found at Hobby Lobby)
Instructions: I think you all can figure out this one;)
So this is your chance to do a fun and easy project, and prove to yourself you can DIY! …and maybe make some extras for your fam and friends.

DIY: Kate Spade Inspired Dot Stud Earrings

March 29, 2012

I saw these little beauties floating around on pinterest and of course being smitten by all things Kate Spade I wanted to own them. My frugal and creative wheels starting turning (can never turn that off unfortunately) and a simple and easy DIY was born…
Supplies:
Wood Furniture Buttons ($1.47 for a pack of 30!)
Nail Polish color of choice
Earring flatbacks
Super glue
Tape
Clear nail polish (optional)
I used clear nail polish on one set for a shiny finished wood look and left the other unfinished.
Cost: I only had to buy the wooden buttons and earring backs, both which come with several pieces. The rest are items you usually have on hand, so the cost is next to nothing!

Instructions:
1. Cover half of the wooden studs with tape (washi worked great for me).
2. Paint the other half with nail color of choice. (I used a few favorites I had on hand: Essie Tour de Finance & Turquoise and Caicos). Let dry for a few minutes.
3. Remove the tape and attach the flat back earrings to the back of the wooden studs using super glue. Let dry.
These would be fun in almost any color:) Share your results if you try it out!

P.S. Another fantastic colorblock DIY I saw via Green Wedding Shoes for you to check out!

DIY: Holiday Tassel Earrings

December 2, 2011

Remember how I was Holly Golightly for Halloween? I had these fantastic earplugs and it made me want to turn them into earrings. Well then I saw these on the Matchbook blog I was motivated to make a pair and share it here:) You know I like to keep my DIY’s simple, so its just 3 steps and 3 supplies!

Supplies:
– Earwire Hooks
– Any 2 Beads (I used these lucite beads)
– 2 in. Upholstery Tassels (bought from Hobby Lobby with several color options)

Steps:
1) Loop beads through top of tassels.
2) Tie a knot to shorten the length.
3) Hook earwires through the tops.
That is it! 3 steps, 3 supplies.
Time: 5 minutes
Cost: $3-$5
Perfect for a holiday party:) I might be wearing them with this top.
We started advent last week, so I pulled out our advent calendar and am trying my hardest to really make the most of this season, and help my little family prepare for the coming of the King!
Do you have any advent traditions??
Wishing you a Happy weekend ahead!

Pregnancy Style: Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Dress (similar ) // Espadrilles

We are due with our new little one at the end of the summer. We are all anxious to meet him or her already. I have been extremely grateful that this pregnancy didn’t bring the usual first trimester evening sickness. Being extra tired put a lot of things on hold for a bit, but I am a lot kinder to myself this pregnancy – not putting too much pressure on myself to be productive. Getting out of stretch pants is a challenge though – especially when nothing fits anymore! I thought I would share a few things that have made me feel comfortable and happy wearing. A pregnancy style spring capsule of sorts.

We started plans for our laundry room in the basement. Every home project takes weeks to complete as I am learning, but the thought of having space wider than the size of the actual washer and dryer is all the motivation I need. Pinned a few ideas to get us started here.

Declutter: Bathroom + Bedroom Organization

January 10, 2018

I realized recently that with the whirlwind of the past year that I had learned to function with clutter all around me. It’s part of raising little ones who move faster than I do. However, I know not every space in our home has to be this way. When the kitchen or my bedroom is clean and clear I can feel the tension release from my shoulders and mind. I am much more likely to relax in a clean environment than not just because of the way I am wired. So after avoiding my dresser tops and bathroom space for months I finally spent the few hours to declutter and re-organize since this was on top of my caring for the mind goal. Here are a few things that help…
