Well, I decided to go for it. It felt like a big risk, but I it paid off! The mural arrived as a thick canvas texture wallpaper, and it was installed this week. Even though we are far from completing this room, I wanted to share the outcome so far! I also rounded up places of where to find scenic wallpaper murals.

Our dining room is at the center of our 1860’s Italianate home. It is a large room with tall ceilings, and I couldn’t help but envision what it was like in it’s original glory. This era of homes often had murals on the walls either hand painted or in wallpaper form. It felt too risky to try at first, but after going through countless paint and wallpaper samples I kept going back to this idea. Today we are sharing a break down of our dining room renovation step by step – the elements we used, paint colors, and process.

As we wrap up the living room, I am starting to make plans for our dining room! Before we ever start on a room I try to take time to think through how we want to use the space. This room has several doorways since it connects the living room and kitchen, and it also has entrances to the laundry room, our toddler’s bedroom (temporary set up), and the side porch. It is the center point of the maze so to speak! With this in mind, I came up with a few ideas.
