Well the week didn’t get off to the best start. Was truck down by the flu yesterday as well as my little guy. After last week, we are really ready for our normal schedule. However, we were blessed with a beautiful weekend, so I am grateful for that. How was yours?

Style Word: Continuing the theme of working with what you have I pulled out a few things in the same shade of vibrant purple and decided they would look much better together. I almost bought a dress over the weekend this color and thankfully took a second look in my closet first. Try wearing your dress as a skirt!

A lookbook for the modern modeste.
“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”

Style File: To Market, To Market…

March 23, 2012

When I saw this image on ONA, I just wanted to hope in and walk around that beautiful flower market in a long flowy skirt. Something you get the itch to do in the spring:) I re-created the look for you too!
Really happy to see the weekend. Its been a long one…
All I know is, the only thing I need to have on my weekend planner is UK Basketball and The Hunger Games Premier…;) Excited is an understatement.
I am taking a poll on Facebook. Team Peeta or Gail?

HAPPY WEEKEND!

DIY: RUFFLE WATERFALL TEE

March 22, 2012

When I passed this fabric at the craft store last week I immediately was intrigued by it.
Ever wonder how to upcycle a perfectly good tee or tank that is stained?
Well this fabric saved a couple shirts for me! And it takes 10 minutes to do!
Supplies:
Liquid Stitch (Better than hem tape miracle worker)
Ruffle Fabric (Found mine here, but it is sold many places)
 Tee or Tank
One half yard can upcycle 3 shirts!
Total Cost: $5.00
Instructions:
1) This fabric comes in many different colors at Hobby Lobby. Hunt your closet for the shirt you want to perform plastic surgery on that best matches your fabric color;)
2) Measure your fabric over your tee or tank (I used an old J.Crew tank that was stained in front) and trim a piece in vertical direction of ruffles that measures a couple inches from either side of the shirt.
3) Place Liquid stitch alongside all edges and let dry for twenty minutes. Trim alongside the top and bottom hems. I left it slightly longer on the bottom for a better waterfall effect. What is great about this fabric is that it is a very soft tee-shirt like material so you don’t have to worry about the edges shredding.
Feel free to email me with questions.
Stay tuned for another fun fashion DIY coming up next week;)

Happy mid-week to you:)
How about that gorgeous photo of Jackie Kennedy? It inspired the rest of the post.
I have an inbox piled high, but I am one sleep deprived mama today who is going to catch up on some snoozes before I turn into a zombie.
P.S. Hunger Games countdown….the first time EVER for a movie I feel the need to dress up in character for the premier. WHAT?! Must find a bow and arrow….
Anyone else going opening night?!

My baby girl is well on her way to her 1 yr. birthday. It has completely blindsided me!
Definately the fastest year of my life to date…
Gabe and I love watching her personality unfold. We call her a silent ninja…always climbing and crawling and attempting daring things without a peep escaping from her. Quite funny.
She loves to chase after Gabriel and get into whatever he is playing. Luckily he has lots of patience for her. She is standing on her own but in no rush to walk. She is a speedster on the floor so she feels confident that it will be her means of transportation for a while….as well as mama’s arms;) One of our favorite things is to watch Gabriel try to make her laugh. He loves being an entertainer, and she loves to be entertained, so its a great match. She laughs at him constantly.
I can’t seem to stop buying her little shoes (as you may have noticed on instagram). Also adding one too many bathing suits to her closet. Having a girl to dress up is way too much fun:) I hope and pray I can remember these sweet moments forever so I can tell her about them one day, and remind her how much joy she brings to our lives.
I guess its time to plan a first birthday party!

The True Beauty Files: Gingham + Stripes

So the plan was to catch up with many of you readers this weekend.
But then the sun showed its beautiful face all weekend long and we lived outside. Nothing got done, but I did soak up some QT with my family, enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day date with my hubz, watch UK win two NCAA tourney games (holla!!), and finish with Coldstone ice cream last night. A good recipe for a weekend, no? How was yours?? I think the whole nation got a warm spell!

Style Word: Mixing prints take 2 above. I used two shirts of the same color family to mix up a casual look and add some more color and fun to the mix. I challenge you to look at your closet with a new pair of eyes, and see what you can mix up with what you already have! 😉
Also, going to be hosting the True Beauty Files link up posts once a month, so it gives you all time to prepare:) If you have one ready from the past few weeks, link up below, and please refer back to this original post via button or text link! (Email me if you need a different size!
