I tend to over do it with Christmas decor, but I keep it pretty minimal for Halloween! Because my children get SO enthused if I so much as put out a pumpkin, I try to at least put a little in each room for October and November:) Here are a few easy and affordable ways to decorate for fall.

Having a new home with a relatively blank yard has opened a world of planting possibilities. The only problem is I love flowers, trees, and shrubs, and I think a little bit too much about these possibilities. When we first started to plan out the landscape, we knew that one of our top goals was to have variety of fruits growing in our yard. Few things better than snacking on your own blueberries, peaches, figs, and other amazing morsels throughout the summer, especially for a child. Not only can it create really good memories for children, but the flavor of your own home grown produce blows your supermarket away. Most people seem to think they need a huge yard in order to have some amazing home grown produce, but it only takes a little bit of space and a little bit of planning to work edible plants into decorative setting of a landscape. You don’t need to create an orchard, you just need to work some edible treats into your ornamental landscape. Here are a few plants, both perennial and annual, and few basic ideas to help you begin the process of creating an edible landscape.
After trying my own capsule wardrobe I realized I should be doing this for my kids too.! They don’t need much, and usually want to wear the same favorites over and over again. Sound familiar? I usually get most of my kids’ clothes at consignment shops or old navy, and love supporting small shops when I can. I found some great separates that work well for a kids capsule wardrobe for fall and winter months as thought starters if you need some ideas!
I’ve mentioned before how one of the main reasons we bought this home was because of the big backyard. There is a two-tiered patio that overlooks the yard, and while we loved the setup, the boards were starting to warp and snap in some places from age. We knew we needed to replace them, so this became one of Gabe’s first big projects to tackle this summer. So today we are sharing the before and after deck remodel from replacing boards all the way to the styled seating finish.
