Put a bow on it. (Easy holiday look!)

November 29, 2017

I haven’t done much holiday anything yet, as my head is still spinning from Thanksgiving….BUT! I have a really easy idea if you are short on attire (or funds)! I wanted to snatch up this shirt from J.Crew, but then I thought, oh wait. It’s just ribbon around the sleeve cuff.  I already had this bell sleeve sweater. So grab any solid sweater from your closet, and a little ribbon of any color, and you’ve got yourself a festive shirt for your next Christmas party;) You can find some really good velvet ribbon prices on etsy. Here’s another look you could do with ribbon.

22 Piece Summer Capsule Conclusions

August 21, 2017

At the beginning of this capsule the number 22 seemed like a small number to work with for a whole summer. This is funny to me now considering there were a few items I only wore once or twice. I could have probably worked with 15 and been fine! It was eye opening to realize how I’ve lived in a state of excess for so long. It’s much easier not to think through what we wear and where we buy our clothing than it is to be intentional about it. I often just don’t feel like I have the brain space to think through a whole month’s worth of outfits. However, as I mentioned previously, after it was all said and done, this experience saved me time and money in the end! It also felt like I had an interior and mental shift along with it.

Summer Capsule Wardrobe: Week 3 Looks

July 29, 2017

Top // Denim shorts // Sandals // Wicker tote

Somehow I made it through the summer wearing only 22 pieces of clothing! Part of me didn’t believe I would be able to stretch a summer capsule wardrobe this long! Although I don’t have to use these pieces anymore, I still packed them up for trip to Nashville. After packing up 5 kids I had no brain juice left for my own suitcase….so summer capsule to the rescue. I’ll be sharing my last round up of looks next week!

Summer Capsule Wardrobe: Week 2 Looks

July 15, 2017

(Dress // Tote // Sandals (similar) // Earrings // similar watch)

These last few weeks this 22 piece summer capsule wardrobe really came to the rescue! I still haven’t purchased anything for my closet this month because I have had everything I needed. I no longer have the struggle of trying to piece impulsive purchases together. It also made packing for our Florida trip a breeze, and I’m beginning to think it’s the way to live! It was time consuming to think it through in the beginning, but the mental freedom its given me since has been incredible.

22 Summer Capsule Wardrobe

June 14, 2017

I have been holding out for years. I always viewed the capsule wardrobe as a novel and smart idea, but too confining for me. How do you choose a small collection of pieces to wear for all the occasions that might occur in a month? Well, here I am typing up a post about a summer capsule wardrobe, and I am wondering why I wasn’t brave enough to try it sooner. After asking your feedback on instagram stories about what type of capsule wardrobe to tackle, many of you requested a bold version since there are so many minimal/neutral ones you usually see. I raided my closet and scoured the web to mix old and new items to come up with 22 pieces and 30 different looks.

Bump Style Report

September 12, 2016

trench-coat-and-stripes

byrdie-bag

This was my last pregnancy style post scheduled to go up before Azelie made her early debut:) I looked at getting dressed with a baby bump as a challenge that sometimes defeated me, and other times was enjoyable to battle. This summer pregnancy was difficult to be honest, so wearing something fun was a good distraction on the waiting game.

These were a few of my favorite pieces that I have worn for the last few babes. A staple striped shirt, distressed maternity denim, trench coat (half price option), and nude heels (50% off)….that I wore for one hour before limping back into my flats with swollen feet;)

I have been keeping it super simple with accessories. I find a few pieces I really like and and wear them on repeat. Lately it’s been this crescent pendant and bar necklace combo, with climber earrings. As far as handbags, this  Kate Spade Byrdie bag c/o goes with just about every look, is compact in size but spacious enough to fit all of the necessities. My favorite aspect is that it’s scratch resistant! (#canigetahalleluiah #canigetanamen) Here is another way I styled it.

Can’t believe we are midway through september and my little babe is here with us. Loved having her in the womb, but much happier having her in my arms. Have a great start to your week!

31 Dresses No. 10: That yellow number.

that yellow dress

I am all about a good throw down for friends and family’s birthdays, but would usually rather avoid my own. We could probably go into that topic for a good minute, but we’ll skip. 😉 However this year, I decided it was time to just get over it, and really CELEBRATE! To celebrate the many milestones this year has brought, the life lessons I have learned, and every single day I was given to LIVE.

So I put on that yellow number, and after a really good day with my children, Gabe surprised me with a backyard hammock (eek!) and an evening out doing some of our favorite things. He’s a good egg. My best birthday gift though? A handmade card from my son Gabriel which said, “My favorite thing about my mom is that she likes to spend time with me.” Well…..heart puddle. A whole year of pouring yourself out for these little ones, and it all comes together in just one line.

Looking forward to the year ahead with much hope that there to what will be lived and learned.
