31 Dresses

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive;
and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
-Maya Angelou

Today starts the new style series! I tend to look for a little substance behind most things I do because really, it’s the only way I will stay motivated. This year I wanted to share a topic in fashion that would be a good resource for those of you who come to visit each week. It’s also my nod to the art of getting dressed.

I get asked most often where to find the right dresses for the right occasion, so this is my series to answer the question! 31 dresses. The number will be a challenge but a fun one as I seek out dresses that fit my guidelines of feminine, tasteful, stylish, and versatile pieces that are well made and a benefit to your closet.

So here is Dress One, the bell sleeve fit and flare dress I found at Altar’d State. Head to their store and see if you can find this feminine frock to add to your closet when you need that dress for any occasion (I got it half price)! There are some similar ones you can find at asos.

I hope you enjoy this series, and I look forward to the hunt, and saving you the work! Here is a video that is pretty good depiction how style has changed over the years. And as much as I love a pair of distressed denim and a tee, there is something to be said about the dress, and what it can do for a gal. So cheers to the dress, and the confidence that can come with it.

  • I am seriously considering wearing dresses only for Lent this year. I enjoy the femininity of dresses and I feel sort of lax in that department. Looking forward to seeing your selections!

  • This is a fun idea!! I really love this dress – and score! It’s still available in my size!

  • I love this idea! Dresses were all I wore before I had my baby, but now I find it SO hard to find cute breastfeeding friendly dresses. Can’t wait to see all your pretty picks!

    • Hi Emily,
I hear ya! Those are very hard to find. I am still breastfeeding Rocco so I am always looking out for good options. ASOS has some good options, and look for good button down shirt dresses!

  • Lovely! Please include a few nursing-friendly dresses 🙂

  • I love this dress! And I’m super excited that you’re running this series. For the past 5 or so years, I’ve worn dresses and skirts nearly exclusively-I really like dresses a lot! 🙂 I like how simple it is to look put-together in a dress; I don’t have to find a top to coordinate, but I just put on the dress and accessorize, and look way nicer than if I had just thrown on a random pair of sweatpants or a grungy skirt!

I second the comment about nursing dresses; when I give birth to Baby #1 this summer, I don’t want to bid dresses farewell, and I also would love to find cute options for nursing dresses (because I have seen some nursing dresses that are very unflattering).

    • AnneMarie, you are so right…much easier to style! And I think they can be extremely comfortable, which is why I think it can add to the confidence factor when you put on a good dress. I am looking forward to the challenge of finding a few nursing friendly dresses! x

  • As always, you look so beautiful Anna! Love this dress on you!

*Not sure if you knew this but thought I’d mention it to you : Altar’d State offers Mission Monday every week-10% of net proceeds go directly to your local community! During the month of December they donated to organizations that sheltered the homeless. During Jan and Feb of this year, they are supporting organizations that focus on improving self esteem!

Keep up the great work Anna! I don’t always comment but I always read! Promise! I’ve done a lot of cleaning out as far as my blog subscriptions go and yours is one that I had to hang on to. I adore your heart, precious family and your honesty!

God Bless You in this Great New Year!!!

    • Heidi, that means so much, and I greatly appreciate the time to write a thoughtful comment. It goes a long way! And that makes me sooo happy to hear about their Mission Mondays. I wasn’t aware of that, and really love when companies give back. Have a wonderful week!

  • You are so gorgeous!
