A Floral Rug Round Up

We have been working on the girls’ room in between the kitchen and other projects, and I have actually loved the slow layering vs. an all at once design. Before moving forward on other textile decisions like the curtains and bedding, I wanted to see the rug in the space. The rug arrived yesterday, and you better believe the first thing I did this morning was roll it on out!

(Chiara wants to do everything I am doing lately. My little assistant.)

As a long time admirer of Anna Rifle Bond’s work, I did cartwheels when Rifle Paper Co. sent over their new rug collection to preview. Veronica actually helped me pick out which one she liked best, and that would work in their room. This Willow Sky rug was one of her favorites. Azelie’s two main requests for this room design was pink walls (we compromised with pink chairs) and butterflies. I was making plans to incorporate butterflies on the stencil wall or on wall art. When I unrolled the rug today, I noticed something I hadn’t before…..butterflies! I couldn’t believe it. I cannot wait to show Azelie when she gets home from school. Felt like a little God wink.

It’s actually hard to find a good floral rug these days, and these are about the extent of what I could find that are a similar whimsical style. These all would be magnificent in a bedroom.

I would like to do a table instead of two desks so there is room for all three girls to craft or do homework. I loved the scallop chairs and sconces (need to find similar ones that ship to the U.S.). I had plans to buy second hand everything for this room, but turns out that is everyone’s plan right now. Thus, I cannot for the life of me find the wardrobe or daybed options we are needing. Instead, I have plans to work with Gabe on some IKEA pax wardrobe and daybed hacks.

I already have window treatments ordered and these golden yellow curtains up to test out in the room. Debating which color will go where, but sticking with the original color palette goal of deep blue green, mint, golden yellow, and deep blush pink.

Which are you digging for the curtain color? I still have the bedding to figure out so that may influence the deciding factor for me!

  • I really like the yellow and wish I’d seen this a few months ago because it’d be perfect in our office.

  • What paint color is the light green on the walls? Thanks!

  • I really love the blue curtains! I may or may not be heavily influenced by the fact that my grandma had some curtains very similar in the yellow w/ a matching corduroy chair, but at a time when they were not a fad. My grandma was a stylish lady but I tend to gravitate towards colors that are more classic for pieces that take a long time to wear out.🙈

  • My preference would be the golden yellow curtains. I feel like it brings out more of the warmer tones in the rug and warms up the vibe of the room. I’m sure whichever you choose will be perfect for your girls!

  • What’s the app that you use to make your mood boards?

  • There are actually butterflies 🙂 I like the rug number 3 the most. Greetings to the little assistant
