Declutter: Bathroom + Bedroom Organization

January 10, 2018

I realized recently that with the whirlwind of the past year that I had learned to function with clutter all around me. It’s part of raising little ones who move faster than I do. However, I know not every space in our home has to be this way. When the kitchen or my bedroom is clean and clear I can feel the tension release from my shoulders and mind. I am much more likely to relax in a clean environment than not just because of the way I am wired. So after avoiding my dresser tops and bathroom space for months I finally spent the few hours to declutter and re-organize since this was on top of my caring for the mind goal. Here are a few things that help…

Organization for the Home + Business Life

August 4, 2016

home office

(Home Office)

I have addressed the topic of balance multiple times here on IHOD, and think it is something that is ever evolving for me! If you want to go even deeper on some of the points we address today there is a post I wrote about Time Management Hacks. I receive the most questions on this topic but feel limited in my ability to offer advice as my situation may be very different from the next person’s. I thought I would have my communication manager Megan weigh in with me today because she is super skilled on organization. In fact, she wouldn’t mind being a professional organizer for a living! Here are a few questions we have answered on organization for the home + business in hopes of helping those of you who are juggling both right now.

Packing Organization Tips for Family Travel

May 6, 2016

(Escape Canvas bag, Steamline luggage (use code IHOD10 for 10% off), Vintage suitcase, Market Tote, Nena and Co Tote)

Today I find it quite humorous that we pack the same amount now for a weekend away with four children than when we did with one. I am sure it was because I didn’t know what to expect and if there is room in the car, I WILL fill it. 😉  As we have grown as a family, I have learned a few tricks here and there that have helped tremendously for being prepared for the “just in case” scenarios without overdoing it as well as realize the freedom in minimal packing! I tried to snap the process to break it down. I’m always up for hearing additional packing organization tips for family travel.

Jewelry Storage and Accessory Organization Part 2

July 24, 2012

As I showed you in in the first accessory organization post, I store my big chunky necklaces in a dish, and scarves on a DIY hanger. The finer ones I hang on a Jewelry Tree Stand (you can find these at Bed Bath and Beyond for $10) to keep them from tangling. I love having other baubles in dishes, which makes for a fun display.
(More images after the jump!)

I am such a sucker for organization posts and tips so if you have any posts on this topic, let me know! Would love to see them:)

Organization Inspiration: Dresser and Jewelry Storage

March 14, 2011

I have always been a girl who loves pockets, drawers, and secret compartments:) Every trim and notion in my works studio has a spot in a jar or basket. I just love organization! Makes your life easier, right? However, I could use some help on my dresser top! A complete mess of jewelry, lotions, pictures, etc. So these photos were motivating me to get working on it. Can you tell I am in nesting mode? 😉
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

DIY: Pegboard Organization + Display

July 1, 2010

My husband and I are heading to the lumber yard to pick up some pegboard pieces. I am going to use them for displays at my next craft fair, but thinking this will go perfectly in the work room for now. As I was looking for inspiration I saw some really cool examples that use pegboard in different rooms of the house…laundry room, craft room, inspiration boards, etc. This isn’t just for the garage anymore:) Here are a few fun examples…

Sorry for the blurry image, but his is one of my faves!

Share with me your ideas! If you have any shelving or container finds that would be good for this…please let me know! Will hopefully share the pictures of the finished product!
