Studio Room + Guest Room – Phase 1

August 14, 2018

We have been working on finishing a room in our daylight basement that will work as both a studio/work space and a guest room! We had the basics finished for a while now, so it was fun to finally start designing. I thought I would share how I select lighting for a space, and the original design board because I think it helps to see the process behind a room…

Travel tips for getting through customs quickly.

August 8, 2018

We recently took the whole gang to get passports for an upcoming trip, and it shockingly went pretty quickly! (Props to Gabe for being really prepared and having all of our documents ready beforehand.) Since we are heading to Dominican Republic next month, we need to have passports and go through customs. I was feeling really anxious about that, but so many of you shared helpful travel tips for getting through customs quickly. There were some great nuggets of info, so decided to put them all in one post for anyone else wondering the same things I was!

An East Nashville Airbnb + Favorite Local Spots.

August 7, 2018

We made a quick trip to Nashville to visit my sister and her family before the school year starts again. Our children are similar ages and if you were to ask mine who their best friends are, they would tell you their cousins! We rented my friend Elsie Larson’s Airbnb, and had to pass along this gem to you all. I loved the retro vibe and the touch of green in every room. As someone who is always observing design, nothing inspires me more than going to different cities. This east Nashville Airbnb perfectly reflected the culture of one of our favorite cities.

Miscarriage and the recovery process.

August 1, 2018

I have not had much motivation to blog at all these past few months, but because I felt so blindsided by what I went through I wanted to share about what has helped in miscarriage recovery. So many of you shared your own stories with me. It helped me tremendously, and I will never be able to thank each of you personally the way I wish I could! A few very important people in my life also told me it was okay to take my time to grieve. If you know someone close to you who is going through this, I hope this post can help you understand the best ways to reach out to them as well.

Home Organization Ideas.

July 30, 2018

Don’t be fooled – our home is rarely clean all at one time, but I do rely on some organization to keep things from getting overwhelming. I’ll share a look at how we (attempt) to keep clutter under control, where we store things for the school year, and some of the items we use for organization.

Introducing: The IHOD SHOP!

July 20, 2018

Life has been a little fast paced for the Liesemeyer family these last few years….. babies, moves, loss, job changes, school changes, and the list goes on. Although Gabe and I dreamed about opening a shop together some years ago, it was always just in the theoretical department. We kept receiving little nudges from many of you readers and friends, and when the window opened, we decided to turn it into a door and barge through. Imperfections and fears aside, we decided to launch an IHOD SHOP! We hope it can be a place that helps make your house a home, because we know just how important “home” can be. You will be able to watch it grow in phases as we add more products every month! Go ahead and have a peek:
