bookshelf decor - vintage books

It’s no secret that I love to style with books. It’s the first thing I unpacked in our new house to get on these bookshelves to help it feel like home. I am asked often where I found so many vintage books, and if I actually use them! I slowly have collected them over time, and I wanted to share my favorite places to hunt for vintage book bundles.

Our Backyard Fruit Trees and Bushes Guide

May 4, 2021

Today’s post is written by Gabe (the green thumb between us two).

One of the hardest parts of moving from our GA home was leaving behind the myriad of fruit trees and bushes we had planted in our yard. Many of my fruiting beauties were just beginning to set their first major harvests as we packed up to move. As soon as we landed foot in our new place here in Nashville, I began dreaming and plotting what to plant around the yard.

Our Dining Room Reveal

April 6, 2021

This was the year I resolved to add more color back into our home, and the dining room design is as bold as they come. Since this was a shadowy room, I played off of the moodiness. I knew this would be a space we will share many family meals and birthday dinners, so I wanted it to be fun as well as timeless.

I love how paint alone can change a room. We are working on each of the kids’ rooms in phases, and once Chiara’s was done I was able to start on Rocco and Max’s room. We used just about everything from their old room, and wanted to stay under $500 for any updates. A tour of what we came up with!

Kids Easter Basket Ideas + Easter Books

Kids Easter Basket Ideas

ONE // TWO // THREE // FOUR // FIVE // SIX // SEVEN // EIGHT // NINE // TEN // ELEVEN // TWELVE // THIRTEEN // FOURTEEN // FIFTEEN // SIXTEEN // SEVENTEEN // EIGHTEEN // NINETEEN // TWENTY

We keep Easter baskets pretty simple around here with a few inexpensive fun items or books and some sweets for each kiddo. I rounded up some of our favorites if you need some Easter Basket ideas or Easter book ideas for kids! All linked below the images.

A few notes:
1) Resurrection Eggs – My sister sent these to us a few years ago and I love how it gives little ones touch and feel visuals to go with the story of Easter.
6) Rocco, Max, and Veronica (ages 5, 7, and 9) all love these fossil eggs! Easy to split up into baskets.
14) Non-messy air dry foamy clay (I cannot do slime.), and they come in a big pack so another item I am just splitting these up into the younger kids’ baskets!

Installing + Re-surfacing Hardwood Floors – Process, Cost, and Stain Used

White oak flooring - resurfacing floors

One of the bigger projects we had planned for in this home renovation is resurfacing the first floor hardwoods! The floors are over 20 years old so there was some warping, fading, and peeling. We got a few estimates from flooring contractors based on referrals (always get a first hand experience rec!), and was able to find a good quote for what we were looking for. This post details the process, pricing, and materials we used as well as what we used to install similar hardwoods in the upstairs bedroom.

Chiara’s Nursery Play Room Tour

March 17, 2021

nursery design

We started this room design last summer, and thought we would be able to whip it up in a jiffer. (How humorous of my optimistic self.) I have come to appreciate slow paced changes in our home this past year. Every corner seems to have a backstory, and some more entertaining than others. Nonetheless, we are happy to welcome you in and give you a tour of Chiara’s (Cheech the peach) nursery/play room…
