Autumn Table Setting Ideas

October 15, 2019

It felt good put on the styling hat again. It’s a fun outlet for me amidst all of the sleep deprivation of a new baby. We are going to have a halloween shindig with my brothers and sisters this year so today I wanted to share with you some simple autumn table setting ideas I will be using throughout October and November.

Autumn Home Tour

October 23, 2017

This is the 3rd annual autumn home tour we’ve done here on the blog, and you will probably notice some repeating patterns. I tend to decorate for October and November so I don’t have to change much out! My motivation for decorating for the seasons is that my little family gets so jazzed about even the smallest of pumpkin changes;) Hope you enjoy this little autumn home tour….

A little autumn home tour.

October 30, 2015

We tend to put all our energy towards Christmas decor every year, so I am lucky if I get a fall wreath on the front door, but this year I decided if I actually thought about it early enough, I could smatter a few pumpkins throughout the home too. Low expectations and you won’t be disappointed right?? Hey, anything is an achievement when you have four sweet tots consuming your attention. So here’s my best efforts for a festive home to warm us up in the evenings where the sun sets at a godforsaken hour. (I am looking at you daylight savings!!)

My sister moved to the Atlanta area over the summer and their backyard has provided many memorable nights around a campfire. The trees are tall and vibrant and there is ample open space for some good tree stump seats and a good fire pit. This October has been unusually cool for the area, but I don’t mind since it reminds me of my midwest home. You know the wet leaf and smoke in the air smell with the slightly crisp chill reaching your bones? The wind also makes sure you take note with a shuffle of falling leaves to add to the ambiance. I’ll take it.

So lately we make a batch or two of Abuelita’s hot chocolate (the best) to go with some apple-bake filled mugs my sister makes. We spend at least a few hours chatting about life, swinging on hammocks , and listen to my brother in law strum a ridiculously good version of Mumford on the guitar. I hope we make these nights our October traditions, because they sure are good at taking you away from the world for a brief time and allow us to slow down.

This autumn, I have been using pieces from Old Navy. I really love how their items are interchangeable and layer well. I have always been a flannel girl, and their line of plaids and flannels fit me so well. ( I like to go up a size for a looser fit or just wear the boyfriend style.) Textured sweaters, quilted vests, cable knit hats – oh my! All so good. Have you seen their fall outerwear collection? I have a few of their coats on my wishlist.

It is cold and rainy here today, so wishing you a warm Wednesday! And by the way, do you all create fall traditions? What are they going to be for you?

Sage and White Autumn Tablescape

October 13, 2015

Autumn Tablescape | In Honor of DesignAutumn Tablescape | IHOD

This year, I wanted to put something on our table that could last through October AND November, because let’s be honest. I am lucky to get a wreath on my door most years. Meanwhile my neighbors across the way  put me to shame with a full on cemetery in their front yard for Halloween. That’s okay though because we have mums, and that’s really all you need to bring your front yard back to life from the dead. 😉 I am more of an autumnal versus Halloween decor, so here is what I came up with. Using real pumpkins and faux greens, this should last you for months!

Sage and White Autumn Tablescape:
3 White pumpkins varying in size
2 artichokes (will need to be replaced when they get dark)
3 mini gourd pumpkins
2 green gourd pumpkins
2 branches of faux greenery
1 Placemat or Tea Towel (mine from Pehr Designs)

Arrange however you like, but hopefully this video is a helpful guide!:

Here Comes Autumn with Calypso St. Barth

Calypso St Barth - cashmereChambray Dress // In Honor of DesignChambraysweater dress

We reached the 60’s in the evenings this week, and although the highs were in the 80’s, so naturally everyone in the south deemed it fall weather. On cue the boots were out. I readily admit my midwest roots have been affected by the southern weather over the years and 60 degrees in the morning merits a sweater;)

Had fun teaming up with Calypso St. Barth to style some of their new fall pieces! Favorite aspect of the chambray dress is how easy it is. You feel like your outfit is complete with a long necklace and a pair of booties. The dress does all the work! And the sweater dress….easily something I will wear throughout the next few seasons. Maybe I won’t even take it off because it is so soft.

Should we vote on fall just continuing through winter and skipping it altogether? We’ll come back to that question come January:)

Calypso St. Barth is running their gift card promotion if you want to take advantage! Use Code: GCFALL2014FB for the following deals:
$50 off $300
