I have come to accept that I will almost always be stepping on legos and dollhouse pieces, and picking up abandoned dolls and trucks in every room. However, there are a few toy organization ideas that have helped both my kids an I with keeping clutter at bay. I think when everything has a general place to go, it helps with not being overwhelmed by messes!
We recently added cabinets to our living room renovation so we had a place on our first floor to store games, toys, and books. We have a play area in the basement, but if I am on the main floor that is where they want to be! Having a few puzzles and toys that are easy for them to access and put away has made a big difference in the trail of clutter that usually forms around the house. I used this set of 6 stackable containers for magna tiles, puzzles, and activities. We have had this zipper pouch set for a few years now which has came in handy for all of the cards and games whose boxes have worn and torn. Hyacinth baskets also did the trick for smaller boxed games making it easy to stack and organize.

I used the IKEA Billy Bookcase in the boys room in two different room set ups with these clear plastic bins from for legos, and square baskets for book and toy storage. It worked really well for them to have easy access and an easy way to clean up! (The boys’ full room tour here.)

I love this idea of using clear plastic storage bins for art supplies. Easy to see and keep track of everything!

Will always love and appreciate a good color co-ordinated craft space;) But how about those books? A great way for kids to be able to see where their favorites are!

I thought hanging market baskets on the door was a genius idea for stuffed animals and dolls. I am going to try this in my girls’ room!

Art carts are a great way to keep everything in one place and transport from room to room!

We had a storage bench (similar here) in the girls’ room that worked really well for storing all of their dress ups! When we moved and their bedroom downsized, we started using the drawers underneath their bunk beds for dress ups which has also been a good solution!
I am now motivated to go conquer more corners of our home that could use some serious attention!
