Picking back up our kitchen series this week as we have had to make some big decisions for our remodel! Today we are taking a deep dive into types of kitchen countertop surface materials. We are breaking down the pros and cons as well as price differences to consider.
We moved into this home one year ago, and so as fast (or slow moving) this year has gone I knew I’d better write down some thoughts before I blink and it’s summer 2022! We definitely are not where we expected to be with the renovation, but exactly where we need to be with our family. That ends up being the type of realization that keeps teaching us through every annoying hurdle or happy hill we climb. Eyes on the priorities, and the rest can unfold as it may.
We want to answer some of the frequent questions we receive as well as give an overview of what is to come this year. We always hope sharing our process and progress no matter how big or small will serve as a helpful resource to any of you working on making your spaces feel more like home. Gabe and I are both educators at heart so we love being able to share what we can.
It definitely took some years into motherhood to realize I didn’t need a ton of gear. I didn’t use half of the items we had for our first baby. This is a round up of some very favorite items I use for newborns and the first few months for my babies. I didn’t include baby swings and such since so many of the designs change frequently.
(We have a few posts in the queue while I am on maternity leave! This is one of them. Just updated with pics!)
Our entire upstairs floor had the same carpet when we moved in, and we knew we would need to replace it all eventually. It is over 20 years old, and with pets and kids from previous owners it has a well used and loved state of wear and tear. We debated hardwood, vinyl floor planks, or carpet for this bonus room to bedroom conversion, we are sharing what we landed on.
In the early morning hours July 12th, my new SON was placed in my arms. I had a feeling from the start, that this baby was going to be full of the unexpected! I’ve decided to keep this birth story in it’s sacred place between my family and I this time, but I did want to share a few glimpses at his first few days of life. These moments that feel like you can touch the thin veil between heaven and earth, and that bring you to your knees feeling undeserving of such a gift.
I’ve shared my hospital bag checklist before, and there are only a few changes this time around! Also by popular request, Gabe is also spilling what is in his dad bag for this baby;) You don’t need much in your hospital bag, but it certainly helps to have a few essentials on hand! Here’s both of our hospital bag checklists as well as a blank one you can print if you want!
We spend so much time on this back patio, and right now under the shade is the only place I can withstand the heat in my third trimester! Today we are sharing some tips and tricks that have really helped us with patio care, and extending the life of our furniture and rugs.
