You readers are what keep this blog going, and so I like to update you from time to time on how we make a business work for our family. Since Gabe is working full time at a school, and I am at home with three little ones (I have two in school), it would seem nearly impossible to keep things afloat here! So we re-grouped before the baby came to determine how to make things flow. It took a good few months to find some sort of pace, and we are still seeking a steady rhythm. However, there are a few things that are helping us out.
My family is coming over this year for Halloween for Trick or Treating, chili dinner, and probably hours of trading candy.
Here is a drink station that I will be using for cider, hard ciders, water, and dessert. We will see how long this holds up before Rocco attacks the bottom shelf;) Details of items below!
We just about fulfilled our low-key fall bucket list much to my surprise! I’m trying really hard not to let the weight of world issues crush my lungs these days. I have to ignore the media, so as not to feel completely glum in ten seconds time. My children give me that hopeful glimmer that there are good things to come. Within our simple daily lives, there are so many opportunities to love and do good for our families and the world around us.
This is the probably my most worn look this month because it allows me to chase my boys and hide bad hair days;) I picked up a few pairs of these joggers at Anthropologie on super sale, and cannot get over how comfortable they are. Elastic waists never hurt either. VIEW FULL POST
The only real downside to our new home is we downsized in closet space and bathroom sizes. We were both willing to give up our large closet and large master bathroom for the other really great qualities the home had to offer. It honestly has me simplifying my closet which I can only see as a good thing! Our bathroom isn’t on the priority list for upgrades right now, but when I spotted these knobs on clearance (similar here), I knew exactly where they belonged. I traded out the standard silver knobs for these wooden and brass beauts.
I’m thinking the faucets will be the next trade out, but for now, I’ll just enjoy this $20 upgrade;)
I don’t think there is anything more exciting to me than a Friday in October. Something about the cool morning and smell in the air, and the wide open weekend ahead. I always say the possibility of the weekend is probably the best part, right?
I remember when I gave my son Gabriel his first bath, and how nervous I was to mess up somehow. Newborns are so tiny and vulnerable, and that first time feeling his little body relying on me to take care of him was equally terrifying and heart melting. Now, hundreds of bath times later, I still get that feeling of complete awe and wonder, but thankfully feel a little more at ease;) Gabe and I have caught each of our kids’ first bath on camera in hopes of remembering some of those first fleeting months of their little lives. (Remember Rocco’s and Max’s?)
Miss Azelie didn’t quite know what to think of the water. Her limbs were flailing and her big eyes popping:) Gabe had the lucky job of snuggling her up for a post bath massage to sooth her afterwards. As you know, we have started to switch over our household products to clean ingredients, and have tested out Seventh Generation’s new Coconut Care line. You are lucky if you find baby products that work well with your child’s skin, let alone find a product with clean ingredients! But products that also smell better than most is a bonus. The foaming shampoo and body wash is made with organic coconut oil and is super gentle on their skin. We use this on Max, Rocco, and Azelie.
The Cocount Care Moisture Lotion is made with the same ingredients. I personally like how it is non-greasy and is safe for sensitive skin. Both Azelie and Rocco have had really sensitive bums as well, and so far, the Diaper Cream clears them up lightning fast when there has been any reaction or redness. It’s made with coconut oil and a non-nano zinc oxide. So thankful for options like this. I feel like we have come a long way even in the past 5 years when I was looking for good options for my first baby.
Azelie Jane is already 6 weeks old, and it makes me well up with tears just thinking about how fast her baby days are going, but that is totally normal for the overly emotional sleep deprived days of motherhood right? So thankful for the peace she brings to our family. She brings calm to our crazy casa!
