We only have about 6 weeks left in our rental home, and leave it to me to wait till the last stretch to finally finish the entryway + office makeover. As you remember, we re-finished a flea market dresser, and I refinished this $3 desk to unify the two into one longer piece. We painted our walls grey, used a deep blue grey paint for the furniture, and gold finishes for the drawer pulls… VIEW FULL POST
Many good post topics stem from reader requests, so I really do love hearing from you all! I thought this was a topic that I needed brushing up on myself, so it was fun to dive into. Gabe is actually the green thumb between us (no surprise there) considering I can barely keep a succulent plant alive, while he has faithful perennials popping up to say hello this week. So we co-wrote this indoor + outdoor plant guide, where we find them, and how to keep them alive!
Is it just me, or does baby gear just keep getting better each year? We have used the same pack n’ play for all three children, and it did just fine! However, when I opened this Fisher Price Day & Night play yard, I decided it was time for a trade in. This was just what I needed for our current stage with Rocco. We don’t currently have a room for him so he has been in ours since he was born! He outgrew his bassinet, and there is no room for a full sized crib next to my bed. Needless to say I was extremely happy to find a compact play yard that is also spacious and practical. It has the sleep/play area with padded mat, as well as a detachable inclined sleeper for my lazy lounger. He loves to keep mom in eyes view, but I can no longer leave him on the bed since he rolls around. VIEW FULL POST
I promised myself I’d never go back to overalls after my last pair from 9th grade.
I really don’t like bandwagons.
But then again, they are soooo easy to wear.
I put these on the same day the painters showed up at the house, and the 5o something year old male painter and I were twinning. I swallowed a good dose of pride, and forged on in my comfy overalls.
My little April wildflower turns 5 years old today. When you have a house of boys, a “Bubblegum ballerina princess tea party” seems like an inviting challenge to make birthday dreams come true. I always swear after each birthday I am going to keep it reeeeaaaal simple from here on out, and then my hyper active love for a good color scheme kicks in, and twelve hours later you are sitting in a pile of balloons wondering how on earth I am going to complete such a task. Regardless, I think I may have enjoyed the day as much as she did. I’ll never forget how her face lit up though when she saw that cake, and how she clasped her hands together and jumped up and down when she saw the balloons.
For those of you who keep up with us on instagram or snapchat, you may have seen the news that we are moving this year! Same city, but we have outgrown our rental and are more than ready to call a place our own and plant some roots.
The market in north Atlanta is a little nutty right now. It’s kind of a shark tank! We would be looking daily for houses to come on the market, and often times there were already three offers over the asking price before we could even see the home. It’s a sellers market! We looked at hundreds of homes online and in person, and were beginning to lose hope we’d find something by summer with the aspects we were needing.
On Wednesday our awesome realtor spotted a home that had JUST been listed, and got us in to see it within a few hours. We were the first to see the home, and Gabe and I knew almost right away it was the one we wanted to commit to. (I swear you guys it’s almost harder to know which house than which spouse!) We put in an offer right away….
Offer accepted. Still a little in shock. Head still spinning. Nervous butterflies and all. We are still holding our breath until closing day, and I will share more details about the home and first time home buyer experience soon! But until then, wanted to thank you for all your prayers and good lucks for us in the process!
It’s Veronica’s birthday on Monday so we have a good deal to celebrate over here!
Learning to manage little ones who sometimes all need your attention at one time has had me stretching my creativity in motherhood. Often times, dinner is on the stove, my two year old Max wants to play, my six year old Gabriel needs help with his homework, and the baby just wants mama to hold him. I find myself more often than not, wishing for an extra pair of hands or two. Then along came Rocco’s current muse. I am so relieved we tried this Fisher-Price 4-in-1 Step n’ Play Piano. It keeps Rocco happy and content for a long period of time. He actually giggles when we plop him in there because he recognizes his new favorite hang out. VIEW FULL POST
