Loving them through the longest of days.

January 25, 2016

When the end of January rolls around, I usually feel the need to throw a party…because well, we survived. January is that long month of holiday withdrawal, cabin fever, stir-crazy month that tries to convince you that spring is so very far away. When you have little ones in your care, you have to make the conscious effort to make the most of it, and not let it keep you down.

Happy Snow Day Weekend.

snowy ny streets 2

snowy day in venice

School got called off today in Georgia. (This city is a tad afraid of an Atlanta Snow Jam round two. ) My little ones are anxiously awaiting by the window in the hopes snow will fall, but for now we are enviously looking at the pictures of their little cousins’ backyards. I know, those of you in snowy regions are probably wishing it away, but the grass is always greener right?

I have a thing for images of snowy streets. It’s just the midwest in me missing home. Here’s a few of them, and a whole bunch of fun links for your weekend reading:

Want to be more productive? Take a nap.

A new cool photo editing app.

What was your favorite Alan Rickman role? Colonel Brandon forever.

A major sale going on at one of my favorite jewelry sites.

In case you missed the maje news……Anne of Green Gables returns.

A brilliant IKEA hack I am dying to try.

I don’t think I am disciplined enough for a capsule, but if I was……this whole lineup.

A fascinating instagram account.

Looking forward to watching this new to me documentary this weekend.

Style.

Style can be an outward expression of what dignity already exists within a woman’s being.
Dress with intention.
Style can be the vote of confidence a woman needs to put her best foot forward.
Dress with courage.
Style can be a salute to the value of womanhood , and how it can influence the world around her.
Dress with purpose.

What does style mean to you?

Three Dutch Braid Styles.

January 20, 2016

My hair has always been long, because I love the options to keep it up and out of my face. I would love to chop it soon, but due to the request of a certain sweet 6 year old, I am keeping it long for a little while longer. Until then, I’ll just keep braiding…

Wish I would’ve snapped some how-to’s along the way…I’ll work on that. Here are a few hair products that are working really well for taking care of my long hair right now:

Marula Oil Shampoo and Conditioner
Marula Oil Hair Mask
Elizabeth and James Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair
Tresemme Extra Hold Hair Spray

Do you all have any tried and true faves?
Also, if you have medium length hair, my girl Kate of The Small Things Blog has eons of ideas!

February Bar Cart for Domino Mag.

Valentines Day Bar Cart

February bar cart - Coffee + cake

I am trying to cope with the fact that Christmas is over, so I am over compensating with my bar cart;) I use my bar cart more for coffee in the mornings than anything else so I just added some cake and roses for a little soiree with friends.

I’m so thrilled to be occasionally contributing to Domino Mag design posts. I’m really looking forward to this opportunity! This is a peek at my first post. You can head over to Domino for all the photos. (I got many of these items in the dollar section at Target.)

The long weekend was so good that it’s making this morning sorely in need of that pot of coffee pictured.
Happy Tuesday!

January 16, 2016

If it has the word Nutella in it, I don’t really need to be convinced any further. Thank you Abbey of The Butter Half for today’s winter recipe!
