My mom and dad were the ones who started the tradition in our family long ago to make costumes and a have a good laugh at Halloween. It has carried on into our family, and today I thought I would not only share our own past Halloween costumes, but my sister’s families as well! Hope it brings you a good laugh today…
As you may recall the great green paint debate, we finally landed on a color for both the walls and the ceiling! Since this all went down right before the baby came, we decided to call in some help to finish the paint job this time. I am so relieved we did too. Sharing the process photos of this newly painted room, and the almost finished design concepts…
Now that we have a million pounds of apples from our apple farm visit, I decided to divide them up and do a few easy recipes with them. You would think applesauce would be too much effort, but turns out it only requires a few ingredients and 30 minutes time! The best part about this simple homemade applesauce recipe? It fills your house with the aroma of autumn!
Happy Sunday to you! We are working on getting back on our feet (literally), and navigating through life as a family of 8. I have so much to share about postpartum recovery, but for now a quick hello! Chiara is 3 weeks old tomorrow which has felt like one long blurry week. It was fall break for our kiddos, and it was a lot of juggling and surviving to be honest. There were lots of tears on my part. Today was actually the first day we navigated out all together. I was craving some quality time with them, and I knew they needed it from me too. The weather went from 95 degrees to low 60 degrees in two days time, which gave us the last minute motivation to head up to the apple farm….
Time stands still when your children meet. It’s one of the greatest experiences as a parent to see how much love your children have to give to each other. I think when you receive moments like this, they can really carry you through the difficult stretches. So when I am in the trenches of postpartum next week I will just replay this little video;)
So grateful to Chelsey Heidorn for coming to the hospital to film + photograph, and my sister Angela who snapped some of these as well.)
On Monday, September 16th 2019, at 4:05pm our baby girl made her way into our arms! I don’t think I could accurately put into words the experience of her birth, but this is an attempted summary…. and her name and meaning at the end!
I thought Max would always take the cake of difficult births for me, but this one stole the crown. Despite the difficulty, it was still one the most powerful experiences of my life. I think many moments made way for this one, and I have come to realize….I would have never been able to receive it as the gift that it was without the storms I walked through first.
Well, this week we found ourselves rushing to the hospital ready to deliver a baby. Contractions were intense at 5 minutes a part, and we thought it must be it! Hours later we were heading home because contractions completely stalled. I would say this baby is already trying to prove he or she will come at their own time and pace, and unlike any of the rest.
I could barely walk last week and suddenly got a surge of energy. So we took the challenge some of you readers sent in for us to do “The Baby Mama Dance.” It was last minute, so most of this was improvised, but whew! pretty sure the baby dropped as a result. The kids jumped in at the end because they saw all the fun we were having, and didn’t want to miss out;) We hope this makes you smile, and we HOPE this brings us our baby real soon. With the full moon on it’s way, don’t be surprised if you don’t hear from us this week;)
