I think one of the hardest things to source for our kitchen was hardware in our budget. I was looking specifically for an antique brass finish. In my search I came across a range of styles and price points so I included a round up of cabinet hardware below, including the ones we ended up using for our kitchen!
In many ways, this kitchen is the heart of our home. We spend hours a day here prepping meals, and an equal amount of time cleaning up. It’s where long conversations between Gabe and I happen late at night while we clean, and where we get the day started packing lunches before school in the morning. This is probably why it has been the most exciting project to see come to life. It hasn’t been without hurdles, intensive problem solving, and many nights in a makeshift kitchen. It’s been something we have really valued getting to share with our IHOD community, and we hope you feel like you learned something along the way! Today we are giving you the official tour, sources, and contractor info. It’s a hefty post so grab a cup of your favorite beverage and cozy up!
Anyone else feel like they just put Christmas decorations away? My kids have been reminding me how excited they are that Easter is coming, which usually ensues me scrambling to make sure I order a few goodies in time to stuff in their baskets. I also need to do the yearly fun game of “Does everyone have shoes that fit for Easter service?” I know it can be like your own egg hunt to find these things, so including a round up of both basket stuffers and Easter wear this year.
I have been wanting to share more capsule wardrobe ideas, because it’s a mindset that has been so helpful for me in saving time and money. I like to be more intentional about purchasing the basics I know I will use more than once and only hang onto clothes that fit me well in that season of life. (Lord knows how much the pregnancy years yo-yo!) I also wanted to make sure and try on these items before recommending them to you, so most of the ones shared in this post have notes below!
We have been working on the girls’ room in between the kitchen and other projects, and I have actually loved the slow layering vs. an all at once design. Before moving forward on other textile decisions like the curtains and bedding, I wanted to see the rug in the space. The rug arrived yesterday, and you better believe the first thing I did this morning was roll it on out!
Our island pendants were the last big piece we were waiting on to wrap up our kitchen, and they were backordered for months. Since I couldn’t find one I felt like fit the space as well as these Perry Pendants, I decided to wait it out. When they arrived I was holding my breath hoping they would turn out as fantastic as I was confident they were going to be.
My home “office” rotates rooms and atmospheres depending on the day, but more consistently it’s this corner of my room. Someday we may have a dedicated office space, but for now this cozy spot is a great place for me to write, design, and pound out emails when I need to.
